Here are some products we recommend for your new puppy. These are products we use with our frenchies and love.
BRINGING HOME PUPPY
Puppies need to be wormed every 2 weeks until 12 weeks old, then monthly until 6 months old, then every three months
We have tried many brands of kibble. Fromm is good quality at a reasonable price. Be sure to avoid "Grain Free" food as new research reveals this is bad for dog's heart.
I try to familiarize puppies with the dremmel right away. I think it is much easier to avoid clipping the nail's quick with a dremmel. But not all puppies like the noise or vibration. I find a second person holding a spoon of peanut butter for puppy to lick is helpful!
There are many wonderful harnesses available. This company has a variety of colors. If you ever get a collar for your frenchie, it should be for looks not function.
FLEA MED - VET RX
We use 1800PetMeds - we place the order online and they call our vet for the Rx.
We wean off wet food as soon as possible. Kibble is better for teeth health.
If the dremmel isn't for you, a good pair of clippers is necessary. Even if your dog's nails stay short from running around, they have a dew claw (thumb) that needs to be trimmed at least monthly.
If you're going to get a cute harness, you're going to need a matching leash, right?
Nandog Pet Gear - has held up well even after many times thru the washing machine!
We prefer crates with doors that open on several sides for versatility
We use these for all of my dogs no matter their age. They love them. For puppies, we tear each one into four pieces.
We recommend a puppy pad that is quilted. Otherwise, puppies will pull them apart and shred them too easily.
Frenchie paws need attention and care. Be sure to lubricate their paw pads on a regular basis to keep them from getting painful cracks.
These are huge hits with puppies and dogs. When it is time for the crate at night time, pups hear this bag and come running. Toss the gnaw into the crate and close the door behind them.
These are great for crates, on the couch or bed to avoid accidents that would be harder to clean. Hard to throw a couch cushion in the washing machine.
I have seen many frenchies with dried up, crusty noses. Your frenchie's nose is very important to him. Help him by keeping his nose moist. It dries out far too easily. Don't skip this!!
Remember your frenchie cannot regulate his body temperature well. When it's hot out, he needs access to shallow water to cool down. Always supervise him, and familiarize him with the pool from a young age.
The tilted food bowl is helpful for short snout doggies. They swallow less air getting their food in which equates to less flatulence AND everyone knows anything we can do to keep the flatulence to a minimum is a MUST!
This is the ear flush we use to clean ears on weekly basis. Those beautiful bat ears are wide open and need to be protected.
